La Marotte
About this item
La Marotte is from the Pyrenees mountains where sheep's milk is king. Shepherding communities have long inhabited Basque Country and the French Pyrenees, so most ancestral cheeses from that area have a raw sheep's milk base. From there the cheese is sent to the cellars of famed affineur Rodolphe Le Meuniere for at least three months.
A smooth and dense cheese with notes of toasted nuts, a hint of lanolin, and an earthy finish. This is a perfect party cheese: flavorful enough for the cheese experts and approachable enough for the cheese novices. Great for folks who enjoy Manchego, but want to try something new.
A full wheel of La Marotte is the perfect size for curling on a girolle if you have one!
*Contains egg lysozyme in rind. Avoid if you have an egg allergy.*
