Brie de Coulommiers
About this item
Sometimes called the "mother of all Bries," Coulommiers is a beautiful French cheese with a rich history.
It is named after the 'Coulommiers' commune in the Seine-et-Marne department in the Île-de-France region, France. Coulommiers is often compared to Brie, but is smaller in size and known for its distinct characteristics. Made from pasteurized cow's milk, this cheese features a creamy texture beneath its bloomy rind. When left at room temperature, or aged in your refrigerator for a couple of weeks, the cheese develops a soft and gooey texture.
Coulommiers has a rich, buttery flavor, offering a balance of richness and mild tanginess. Its bloomy, edible rind contributes to a soft, edible exterior.
This cheese is versatile and can be spread on crusty bread like a Brie, baked on its own or in puff pastry, or paired with fruits and nuts.
