About this item

Meadow Creek Dairy is nestled in the heart of Appalachia in southwest Virginia. The creamery is owned and operated by the Feete family, and cheesemaking has passed from mother, Helen, to daughter, Kat. Rotating their herd through seasonal pastures in the mountains, Meadow Creek mimics the nomadic dairy herds of the Alps. Milking stops in early winter, allowing the herd time to rest until spring when the new calves are born.

Appalachian is Meadow Creek Dairy’s flagship cheese, made in the style of a French tomme. The raw grass fed milk reflects in the beautiful sunny yellow paste. The texture is semi-firm , making it a versatile cheese for snacking or melting. Appalachian is cellar aged for 5-8 months, developing flavors of cooked fruit, brown butter, and earthy mushroom.

This is a stand out selection for American raw milk cheese!
