OCTOBER 15th: Fermentation and the Occult: Cheese and Mezcal with MalBien

Its officially the start of spooky season! Communities across the globe see Autumn as a time to celebrate the cycle of life and death (Samhain, Halloween, All Souls Day, Dia De Los Muertos). As foodies, this is a great time to celebrate the mysterious power of fermentation: using controlled decay to prolong a food's lifespan. As Clifton Fadiman wrote:

“A cheese may disappoint. It may be dull, it may be naive, it may be oversophisticated. Yet it remains cheese, milk's leap toward immortality.”

We will be pairing our immortal cheeses with a mezcal selection from Mal Bien. Mal Bien works with small, family-owned farms in Mexico to curate an all-star lineup of artisan mezcals. Since they work with traditional producers, many of their mezcals are made using wild fermentation and indigenous microbes. 

Join us as we explore the connections between death, deliciousness, and the great beyond!

Class will include a flight of 5 cheeses, each paired with an artisan mezcal.

CHEESE SCHOOL POLICIES

Tickets Required:

You must have a pre-paid ticket to attend cheese class.  We do not accept last minute additions and walk-ins, as we plan seating and food and beverage amounts according to our reservation numbers.

Cancellation:

We have a 2- hour cancellation policy for reservations to receive a refund. We will not issue refunds or credits for ticket purchases for no shows to the classes. Please email molly@stjamescheese.com with any questions.
