NOVEMBER 18TH: The Artisanal Edge (Parte Deux)
About this item
Is it really worth it to spring for the fancy mozzarella? And why is this feta swimming in a little tub? What makes artisan cheese so gosh-dang expensive?
As Americans dip their toes into artisan cheese tasting, some will turn their nose up at the common supermarket selections, while others scratch their heads over what could possibly make a cheese worth almost $30 a pound. But there’s a cheese for every season and every reason.
In this class we’ll explore the differences between mass-produced and small batch cheesemaking. We’ll talk about when its worth it to spring for the fancy stuff, and when its best to stick with the supermarket standby. Five cheeses will be paired with five wines to round out this tasting.
